2016 PeruTops Kids' Christmas Fund & Evento

Hello all. RT here.

As many of you may know, PeruTops' annual charity event involves going out to the sticks the weekend before Christmas and bringing a party -- with Gits and Clowns and Dancing Girls and Cake -- to hundreds of poor kids who normally wouldn't be getting much in the way of gifts for Christmas. This year's events are well into the planning stage.

If I understand the guys correctly, there will be parties in two places this year, so there's big plans afoot. You can CLICK HERE to see lots of photos from last year's party. And if you CLICK HERE and can read Spanish, you can see what we are up to this year.

If you want to get involved, you can plan to be in Lima the last weekend before Christmas and come with us to play with the kids. Trust me, you won't regret the trip. If you can't do that, and you are here in Peru, I can connect you with the people doing the work and you can help. Another option is to help pay for this event. We collect money all year. The spanish guys are planning to have a pollada and some other fund-raising events. If any of them come to pass, I will keep you posted.

However, if you want to donate some cash, here's how:

1. If you're in Peru, drop me a line and I will get you the banking information and you can make a deposit in BCP Bank.
2. You can paypal the money to me at rtgooch@mail.com and I will get it into the system. As always, I will pick up any paypal fees, so 100% of your money goes to toy trucks and dolls and cake and stuff.
3. If you want to snail mail a check, write me for my address.
4. Meet me on a street corner somewhere. If that ever happens, first two drinks are on me.

I know it is 0nly August, but I was here and collected some money from my family and friends before I left Florida. I deposited US $310 today to get things started.

There are many ways to share with the less fortunate. The Peruanos Solitarios are a good one. If you have any space in your budget -- any space -- all donations will be appreciated and put to good use. I go to the event every year; virtually every Sol goes towards the kids. They are transparent with the finances on the Spanish side; hit me up if you want details. Thanks.

OK, guys, it's October. Almost Christmas time.

The guys are hard at work for this year's event. They've done a raffle and a couple of other fundraisers are in the works. We even have a name... "Sonrie... es Navidad!" or "Smile... it's Christmas!"

Our plans are similar to last year: Go to a really poor area and throw a party for a couple of hundred kids with clowns and cake and Chocolate and gifts! It's really a lot of fun for the kids (and the grownups, too).

How can you help?

First, Show up and come with us on December 18. You won't regret it. Write me and I will connect you with the gang.

RT here. Finally with photos from the event this year in Nana on December 18.

There were way over 200 kids at the party, and everyone (kids and grownups alike) had a great time. We had the Chocolatada, which this year also included candy for the kids, the show with a clown and Santa Claus and singing and dancing, and finally... the presents!

I've included just some of the happy faces from the day. The first few photos show the living conditions in that neighborhood (those cubes are houses), and then the various stages of the party.

We also did an event the day before in Pisco. That one was a hit, too.

I want to thank everyone that contributed to this year's event, whether it was with cash, help in person, or just well wishes. I strongly encourage people to get involved for next year. The payoff when you see these kids is incredible. I will break the photos into four posts.
