around the block, around the world
how do you say around when you're not talking about being close to something (cerca) but rather when you mean to do a circuit around something? (the bar, the store, the block, the world etc) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok! think I got what you mean.... If ,say, you've never been to Tekila Rock, you go in there a chekear el ambiente, to see what's up, how's it groovin' in there. In a store like Sears (Saga) you go a curiosiar, to kill time looking at merchandise. If you mean around the block literally, in peruvian, you say latear la cuadra or caminar la cuadra or dar la vuelta a la manzana, a stroll 'round the block. When you want to use "around the block" figuratively, as in "That girl's been around the block" it's said Esa hembra es canchera or veterana, (I'm referring to call girls here). Now, a girl who's been around the block and is out there to rip you off or to drug you so that she can rob you is una avezada or una maleada. Around the world? Viajar por el mundo............ If you made the (bar) rounds as in "we went club-hoping" you'd say in spanish: fuimos de club en club, we went from club to club,...... or bar or wathever. Click on the thanks button if it helped.
