Combi's + Micro's - for Gringos !

Took me sevral trips to Lima before I ever set foot on a Combi / Micro (The dirt cheap public transportation system)!

I didn't have much info to go on, and still don't use them much when i'm there - BUT - if you are.

1- Adventurous
2 - Budget minded
3 - Not necessarily in a hurry

It's a cheap way to get around - but not recommended if you don't speak some spanish, and know a bit about the city / streets !

Moral to this post - I ran across a website that gives some decent intel into the system and it's workings ... even has a map of some of the main routes (one downloadable for free, one you can buy).
It's the kind of info that I wish I had when I was pondering trying the system.

Rutas Recomendables

Worth checking out if you are considering using the system - or just want to know a little about it.

Found 2 additional helpful websites.

Some decent tourist information on it - not just pertaining to transportation !

This one's pretty cool, and could be useful if you're going to try to use the Micro / Combi system.

Search for Combi / Micro routes - Between 2 districts, Route #, or by Street.

Hell, I wish I had that kind of information back in the day, when i was a pedestrian!!!

Gunslinger

Exactly ....
Heck - I didn't even really understand that there was some method to the madness of the whole system until a couple of years ago.

I always subscribed to the theory of "Read the side of the bus" to know where it went ...

It works, but much nicer to be able to look it up online !
