2017 PeruTops Christmas Fund and Evento

We really haven't gotten started yet on 2017's plans, but I am in town and didn't lose money in any casinos last night, so I starting off this year's fund with a deposit of $100.

As I said, plans really aren't underway yet, other than deciding that we will do it again. If you have spare cash and want to donate, hit me up. The even is the weekend BEFORE Christmas, so be on the lookout for cheap flights -- I already have mine.

I have been negligent in posting lately; I blame work.

As always, the guys here at PeruTops are doing their annual Christmas Kids' Party. They go a couple of hours outside of Lima to some small neighborhood (it changes every year) and bring the ninos and ninas Cake, Chocolate Milk, Santa, a Show with singing and dancing, and most importantly... Gifts!

These kids are super-poor, and they aren't getting much in the way of toys for the holidays, so they really, really, really appreciate it. I will post some pictures from last year below.

How can you help, you ask? The best way, of course, is to come to the party. It will Sunday, December 17. If you are interested, let me kn ow and I will put you in touch with the right people. Hit me up if you want to know about travel or housing or restaurants or anything. If you can't make it this year... well, this stuff takes money to pull off, and that's where you can help. We could use some of yours. Any amount of it. American dollars go a long way down there, and I will make sure that it gets used efficiently. You can paypal any donation to me at: rtgooch@mail.com, or write me for my address for snail mail, or meet me on a street corner for the drop, or whatever. I will pick up the cost of any paypal fees, so 100% of your money will go to the kids. If you are in Lima, let me know, and I will point you towards the bank where the group has its account.

There are many different ways that people give back this time of year; these groups are no better or worse than any others. If you have any room in your budget – any amount of room – I assure you that you will be paid back ten times over in smiles. PLEASE write or call me with any questions or concerns.

Thanks to Juan Alimaga... he sent in $100 to go towards the Kids' fund. We converted it to Soles and made the deposit today.
