Must say that I feel compelled to share some wisdom. I used to be a regular at Tekila of San Isidro. For personal reasons I haven't been to the joint for some 3 months now. Nothing bad...just a girl that keeps me busy.
The joint is a mix of a disco with barflys, johns, drug-addicts, gang-bangers (or wannabes) and later on...past 3 or 4am, is the hang out of choice for whores that want to party mixed with "let's see if I catch any idiot at this time of the night". In other words..if you've ever been to a seedy disco in the SOMA area of SF in CA...then you know what Im talking about. But peruvian style of course. There is dancing, electronic and varied music. The occasional whore-fights and depending on the night, packed full or light. This is the LAST resort for nocturnal people that want to muck around past 5am. And it may remain open (albeit closed doors from the outside) until past 11am. The nights I wanted to waste in idle drinking and general "fucking-around with no purpose" I used to hang out there with various forms of types: foreigners in search of meaning, low-lifes looking for easy prey, girls in search of easy money, and once or twice met interesting people worthy of drunken conversation while tending to a Black Label.
Just one warning: if you dont feel comfortable with the peruvian scene (meaning dont' speak the lingo well or otherwise are privy to the nuances of a seedy place) better go accompanied with someone that can shield you from possible "being taken advantage of". AND...KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN and your wallet close. It is an interesting place but with some unsavory characters around. An advice: if you want to enjoy yourself, grab a pleasant looking bouncer (they are pretty good) and give him 20 soles and tell him to "watch your back" for any problems. The more you give him (tops is 50 soles) the more he'll be guarding you. If you feel he did a good job, tip him on the way out to a taxi cab of trust. There it is!! Enjoy....
BTY...comparing the Miraflores with San Isidro Tekilas...one is a whorehouse disguised as a disco (albeit no fees for the house other than your entrance fee) and the other is a disco disguised as some of a whorehouse (the SAN ISIDRO one). If you want to dance, drink, talk and in general act as in a disco...that's San Isidro. The Miraflores Tekila is more to the point with many more Ho's in parade or stationary.
